William A. Polmateer, 83, of Rockwood passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his residence.
He was born in Rockwood on April 4, 1937, a son of the late Floyd and Jennie Weaver Polmateer.
Bill worked at different jobs, but was last employed at Fulton County Solid Waste. Mr. Polmateer was a member of the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church.
He is survived by one sister, Velma M. Herron of Heuvelton, New York and several nieces, nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his siblings Charles Polmateer, Marvin Polmateer, Virgil Polmateer, Amie Hulsaver, Ivan Polmateer, Katherine Polmateer, Leo Polmateer and Floyd Polmateer Jr.
Bill was mostly a quiet guy, but enjoyed being a wiseguy at times. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, and just sitting on the porch. He also enjoyed the old westerns, and especially liked Gene Autry, Roy Rodgers, John Wayne, and the Lone Ranger.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church, 142 County Highway 118, Johnstown, New York 12095.
Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the funeral service on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in Rockwood Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church, 142 County Highway 118, Johnstown, New York, 12095.
