LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Spectrum News is learning more about the woman killed in a shooting at a Halloween party in Lockport.
The Batavia Downs started a GoFundMe for the family of Cheyenne Farewell.
Her father works at the Batavia Downs, and officials there say they’re devastated for the Farewell family and are sending them their thoughts and prayers.
Farewell graduated from Medina High School two years ago, before attending college at SUNY Brockport.
Police say Farewell and five others were shot just before 12:30 Saturday morning on the first block of South Niagara Street.
The other five victims were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for their injuries, and there is currently no word on their conditions.
A nearby business showed Spectrum News surveillance video of the incident. That video is not being released to the public at this time, as police review it.
In the video, two people can be seen approaching the side door of the house on foot. The individuals appeared to fire several shots each into the house, then run away.
“It surprises me though, because usually it’s very peaceful here. There’s never any trouble, you know, usually by 5 o’clock or on the weekends its dead here. There’s nobody here. A whole day can go by you never see anybody. So, this is very, very unusual on this street,” said Robert Cassenti of Lockport.
SUNY Brockport released a statement on Saturday, saying “Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Cheyenne’s family and friends during this most difficult time and ask that they are kept in your thoughts.”
