The Ovation concert venue in Northern Kentucky is almost ready to go.The $40 million venue is right on the river in Newport and the hope is to host concerts there as early as this summer.There is still some work to be done and some of it is going to disrupt traffic on Kentucky 8 this weekend. A pedestrian bridge, sitting on the side of the road right now, will be installed Saturday over Kentucky 8 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.The pedestrian bridge will connect a parking garage to the venue.In 2019, in a surprise announcement, Corporex and various Northern Kentucky leaders unveiled a $40 million concert venue anchor for an eventual $1 billion entertainment complex at the long-vacant Ovation site along the river right across from The Banks.Promo West which wanted to build a music venue at The Banks crossed the river and will build one on 25 acres in Newport.The Columbus-based company is planning for a moveable stage with more than 180 events a year.The new facility would hold 2,700 indoors with an outdoor capacity of 7,000 for outdoor summer shows on the lawn.
