Suspect in custody after real estate agent found dead in a house Tuesday

A man was found dead at a home near 193rd and Q Tuesday.Captain Eric Sellers with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 70-year-old Michael “Mickey” Sodoro. Sodoro was a real estate agent and worked for NP Dodge.”It’s kind of creepy, kind of scary knowing a murder’s happened in our neighborhood,” said neighbor Becki Stolp.Authorities said Sodoro never came home Monday night. Sellers said his family filed a missing persons report and told deputies he went to the west Omaha home to show the property to potential renters.Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office discovered his body inside the home Tuesday morning and declared his death as being investigated as a homicide. Sodoro’s car was found abandoned blocks away from the home.”You’ll probably see posts right now that he came here and met with somebody and I think people think that’s a suspect,” said Sellers. “We’re looking into that but we can’t even tell you if that’s a suspect. Could’ve been somebody that knew him that came here. We don’t know at this point.”Wednesday afternoon, a law enforcement source told KETV NewsWatch 7 that a suspect is in custody. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Ross S. Lorello III. The sheriff’s office said an investigation revealed that Lorello met Sodoro at the property. DCSO said Sodoro was showing Lorello the home.According to the sheriff’s office, deputies believe Lorello is responsible for Sodoro’s death.This is an ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office said.Sellers added that as a safety precaution, realtors should visit the homes in pairs and not show properties alone.Neighbors told KETV NewsWatch 7 that the owners of this home moved out the week before Christmas and that it’s been empty ever since aside from Sodoro visiting every now and then. “I feel for the family, especially around Christmastime,” said neighbor Brian Stolp. “The loss and everything — that’s unexpected. That’s something you don’t expect.”
