$44,000 up front should be a down payment on a house. That's scandalous. I'm in Pennsylvania in the US and that's outrageous. What do you get for that much money upfront except making the landlord rich ?!?!? Nevertheless, great to see this beautiful, educated young woman having a successful career. Many blessings.

Am I the only one thinking she's stating a bunch of lies? A Senior Operations Manager in London would probably get about £60/70K. Won't get to 6 figures at all. Not even a director in an investment banking makes those amounts, so it really must be a delusional amount, no matter the company she works for. A year upfront in rent is delusional as well, the maximum amount they could legally ask is 2 months. Honestly, very misleading.

Oh man, with that income you can easily afford real estate, rental properties etc. Real estate is always a great investment, as long as you make the right moves. I make half that and have two homes in san diego working on a third. I wish her the best, and im sure she will get to her goals.

I moved to the UK a couple years ago (as a Doctoral candidate)… and one thing I learned very quickly was to avoid housing anywhere in/around the London area! In order to get more living space for your money its better to move away from the city! I currently rent a nearly new 4-bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house, (with a huge back garden) that was built 5 years ago — for < £2k per month. The owner only required one month's rent as a deposit, and the 1st month up front…thats all. (Paying a full year upfront seems really extreme — even for London!) Anyway, so I bought a railcard and just commute by train into the city as/when I need to get there. Life away from the city is pretty nice too…!!!

Rent is paid per month under short or long term contracts. Nobody pays upfront for 12 months in advance no matter who you are or how much you earn.

Well done to her for all of her accomplishments. But I would thought that something she would have learnt from leaving America and moving to Europe is that money isn’t everything. Americans obsession with money is a little disgusting. I live in London and don’t earn what she does but I still do well. Paying such a large deposit is insane, they clearly saw her coming.
